Barbara Oncken

TOWN OF OCONOMOWOC - Barbara Oncken of the town of Oconomowoc died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital at the age of 64. She was born in Litchfield, Minn., on March 28, 1935, the daughter of Justin Ray and Maxine Barrick. On Nov. 1, 1958, she married George Oncken in Prairie du Chien.

Barbara was a home economist for the University of Wisconsin Extension System. She was a member of the Lord of Life Church and the Lord of Life Senior Group, the YMCA Senior Group, and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).

She is survived by her husband, George; her children, Debora (David) Olson of Brookfield, Pamela (James) Maguire of Toronto, Canada, and Cheryl (James) Bentivegna of Avon, Conn.; her godchild, Tami Kangas of Milwaukee; her brothers and sister, Justin (Florence) Ray of Forest Lake, Minn., Marvin (Sandy) Ray of Lees-Summit, Mo., Douglas (Rita) Ray of Egan, Minn., and Vickie (Joseph) Miresse of Franklin; seven grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, N60-W35980 Lake Drive, town of Oconomowoc. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m; the Rev. R. Dean Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Lutheran Cemetery in Madison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church or the Town and Country YMCA are appreciated.
