Virginia S. Rees

DOUSMAN  Virginia S. Rees of the Wisconsin Masonic Home in Dousman, formerly of Lookout Drive in Waukesha, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of the late Edward S. and Julia (nee Thomas) Salter, "Ginny" or "Ukie," as she was known to her many friends, was born March 17, 1913. She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1932 and Carroll College, class of 1936. Virginia was a member of the Beta Beta Beta fraternity and Theta Pi Delta sorority. Following graduation, Virginia undertook graduate study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then became a registered medical technologist (A.S.C.P.) at Milwaukee County Hospital.

A lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha, Virginia was also a charter member of Bethel #10, Job’s Daughters, and later the Order of the Eastern Star. Always community-minded, she was a past president of both the Waukesha Service Club and the Beacon Lights Club. She was a 50-year member of the Waukesha Women’s Club and had been recognized by Carroll College as a member of the President’s Club. Virginia was known as an avid world traveler and was also devoted to her numerous cats.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Rees, in 1972. She is survived by her son, Stephen E. Rees, his wife Mary Ellen (nee Cameron) Rees, and grandson, Dylan Salter Rees of Dunkirk, N.Y., along with a large circle of friends.

The funeral service for Virginia will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at the First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Sandra Gaylord will be the officiant. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home-East, 419 E. Broadway, Waukesha, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. The family requests no flowers. Memorials to the Otteson Theater at Carroll College, Waukesha Service Club, or the First United Methodist Church Foundation are appreciated.
