WAUKESHA - Elizabeth "Betty" Sleep of Waukesha died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at the Avalon Manor Health Care Center at the age of 94. She was born March 13, 1905, in Dousman to the late Frank and Annie (nee Perkins) Hill. On June 18, 1928, she married John Sleep, who preceded her in death Sept. 16, 1961. Mrs. Sleep was a 1926 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and taught English at Oconomowoc High School. She was the bookkeeper at Biwers Shoes, was very active in several community groups, including the YWCA, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Mary Connell of Waukesha; proud grandmother of Jane (Scott) Hall of New York, Jon (Lorraine) Connell of Oconomowoc, James (Lori) Connell of Jackson, Mich., and Thomas (Jeanine) Connell of Eau Claire; and the beloved great-grandmother of Ashley, Shannon, William, Katie Lynn and Robert. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and a brother, Wilfred Hill.

A private graveside service will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Gaylord will officiate. Memorials in her name are appreciated to the charity of the donor’s choice.
