| Harold A. Hasse WHITEWATER - Harold A. Hasse of Whitewater, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Willowbrook Nursing Home in Lake Mills at the age of 85. Harold was born in Whitewater on June 18, 1914, the son of Arthur and Bertha (nee Reisenberg) Hasse. He married Elvira Freiheit Dec. 6, 1947, at First English Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. Harold was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Whitewater, serving on the Church Council in several positions, and was also a member of the William Graham American Legion Post #173 in Whitewater. Harold also served in the Medical Corps in the 207th Army Force Base Unit (TT) in Deming, N.M., and also in the European Theatre campaigns including Air Europe, Sicily, Naples, Po Valley, Normandy, France, Rhineland and the Ardennes. He was awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal and was discharged at the rank of corporal. Harold was self-employed as a carpenter and also farmed in the Whitewater area. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. He is survived by a daughter, Renee (Al) Vierck of Fort Atkinson; a son, John (Judy)_ Hasse of Waukesha; and one granddaughter, Brittany Vierck of Fort Atkinson. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Whitewater.
