Cheryl J. Russ, 56, of Waukesha (formerly of Pewaukee), born Aug. 7, 1948, to William and Helen (nee Manske) Russ, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at AngelsGrace Hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Cheryl was a graduate of Pewaukee High School. She was a longtime employee of Waukesha County, spending the past 16 years with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.

She is the loving mother of Lance W. Russ. She is also survived by her mother, Helen; her brother, Thomas (Kathy) Russ; her sisters, Debra (Ulrich) Geppert and Sandra Sebranek-DeFouw (Kenneth DeFouw); her extra special nephew, Thomas (Serene) Russ, who has been a rock for the family; and very special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, other family and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, William T. Russ, and her sister, Susan L. Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, at Yonke & Son Funeral Home, 205 Prospect Ave., Pewaukee. Visitation continues from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, Jan. 3, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1052 Whiterock Avenue, Waukesha, with the Rev. Glen Schaumberg officiating. Cremation will follow.
