Alice E. Henning

Alice E. Henning of Waukesha died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Virginia Health & Rehabilitation Center in Waukesha at age 88. Alice was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Watertown, a daughter of Albert and Emma (nee Schmidt) Schlesner. On Aug. 12, 1939, she married C. George Henning in Watertown.

She is a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha and had worked at Waukesha Rubber for more than 23 years. She is also a 40-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 453 of Waukesha Ladies Auxiliary and the American Association for Retired Persons.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Mary (Ken) Eustice of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Dawn (Andrew Klatt) Schmocker of Waukesha and Steve (Donna) Eustice of Neshkoro; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille (Alfred) Krueger of Watertown; a sister-in-law, Margaret Schlesner of Watertown; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C. George Henning (in 1970); three sisters, Esther Schramm, Hilda Reichert and Evangeline Schramm; and one brother, Elmer Schlesner.

Alice’s family would like to thank the second floor staff at Virginia Health & Rehabilitation Center in Waukesha for their kind and thoughtful care of mom. A special thank you to Elisa Morales.

The funeral service celebrating Alice’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. James Wilch will be the officiant. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in New Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alice’s name may be directed to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188.
