Walter T. Adsit

Walter T. Adsit, 86, of Blue Springs Lake, Palmyra, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Health Services.

He was born March 27, 1918, in Palmyra, to Ira Sr. and Frieda (Ehlert) Adsit.

Walter was a lifelong resident of Palmyra, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 304 in Palmyra and past member of the Palmyra Village Board. He was a retired builder in the Palmyra area and also worked as a real estate agent for Adsit Realty.

He is survived by his children, Gary (Jan) Adsit of Lodi, Bonnie Barnes of Fort Atkinson, Thomas (Nancy) of Franklin and Lynn (Bob) Soukup of Naperville, Ill.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erna; brothers, Richard and Ira Jr.; infant brother, Clarence; and his sister, Margaret Shebelbon.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Mealy’s Funeral Home, 320 W. Main St., Palmyra, and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Palmyra United Methodist Church, 122 Fifth St., Palmyra. The Rev. Jerry Lipka will officiate with burial in Hillside Cemetery with military honors.
