George E. Hager

George E. Hager of Waukesha, born May 3, 1942, in Stevens Point, found peace Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at age 62.

He is the beloved husband of Kathleen (nee Wurtz); dear father of Katharine (Mark) Tomcheck and Timothy (Jennifer) Hager; and dear grandfather of Emma and Owen. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his father, Ray; his mother, Evelyn; and by a baby grandson, Cole.

George married Kathleen Wurtz on Aug. 6, 1966, in Fond du Lac. He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1964 and his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1972.

Mr. Hager taught biology at New Berlin West High School for 35 years. He was the past president of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Waukesha, a member of Waukesha Lodge No. 37 Free & Accepted Masons, Royal Order of the Jesters, Humphrey Scottish Rite in Milwaukee (where he volunteered as a reading teacher for their learning center), the Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee in the first aid unit, the Wisconsin Educational Association and the National Association of Biology Teachers. His interests included golfing, fishing, traveling and reading.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha (four blocks south of Interstate 94 on the corner of highways J and JJ). A memorial service will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha. Interment will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to AngelsGrace Hospice, the American Cancer Society or St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Waukesha would be appreciated.
