Charles J. Van Slett

Charles J. Van Slett of Hartland passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at age 90.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Hartland American Legion Flanagan Dorn Post 294 and the Hartland Veterans of Foreign Wars Marshall Johnson Post 5158. He was retired from Home Cleaners Inc. of Milwaukee.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marilynn. He is survived by his children, Susan (Michael) McAdams of Baton Rouge, La., and David (Terry) Van Slett of Hartland, and his nine grandchildren, Cynthia (Tim) Good, Martha, Brendan, Steven, Jeanelle, Elena, Melissa, Deborah and Martin. He is further survived by his siblings, Aurelia, Arthur, Bernice, Marie, Russell and Orville. His brothers Elmo, Joseph and Francis preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Luko-Evert Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hartland American Legion Flanagan Dorn Post 294 or the Hartland VFW Marshall Johnson Post 5158 are appreciated.
