Avis I. Luedtke Avis I. Luedtke (nee Gauger) died with family at her bedside Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Heartland Health Care in Pewaukee at age 87. Avis was the loving mother of her son, Terry L. (Evelyne) Luedtke of Waukesha; her daughters, Vicki K. (Patrick A.) Mehling of Waukesha and Sharon Harris of Lake Geneva; her grandchildren, Loyce (Jim) Kulbeth of Santa Clause, Ind., Fred Luedtke of California, Terry (Terri) Luedtke and Julie (Hugh) Sutten of Texas, Kim (Mike) Wright, Todd (Jodi) Mehling and Tim (Michele) Mehling, all of Waukesha; her stepgrandchildren, William (Nancy) Zawacki of Oak Creek and Carol (Jeff) Maddison of Waukesha, Angie Haupenthal of California, Tom (Sherri) Haupenthal of New Berlin and Russell Haupenthal; and her great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brandyn and Logan Wright, Mackenzie and Sean Mehling, all of Waukesha, and Terry Luedtke of Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Avory Gauger of Phoenix, Ariz. She will also be deeply missed by her very dear friend, Florian Poblitz of Waukesha. Avis was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Luedtke, and her son, Lance L. Luedtke. Cremation will be handled by Hartson Funeral Home in Hales Corners. There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 828 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Alzheimer's Association.
