Donovan A. ‘Don’ Diven Sept. 2, 1931 - Dec. 27, 2003 Donovan A. "Don" Diven, of the town of Brookfield, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2003, at age 72. Don served as a sergeant first class in the United States Army Active Reserves, serving in the 757th Railway Transportation Battallion from 1950 to 1958. Don operated a barber shop in Hales Corners for several years. He served in local government as a municipal judge and as a village trustee. Don was very active in local community affairs, serving as chairman of the 4th of July Commission for 13 years, and was the founder and first president of the Hales Corners Chamber of Commerce. Don joined the American Family Insurance Company as an agent with an office in Wauwatosa. Five years later he transferred into the underwriting department and became the region’s underwriting profit administrator. He retired from the company with 24 years of service. After moving to the town of Brookfield in 1984, Don served as the first president of the town’s fire and police commission from 1990 to 1996. He is the beloved husband of Wanda for 50 years; loving father of Denise (Thomas) Kopitzke and Brian (Linda) Diven; and proud grandfather of Steven and Michael. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Brookfield Lutheran Church, 18500 W. Burleigh Road. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today, Dec. 30, at Harder Funeral Home, 18700 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield. A second visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
