William R. Kerner Feb. 18, 1923 ミ Dec. 23, 2003William R. Kerner of Eagle went home to be with his savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at age 80. He was preceded in death by his cherished son, Lt. John B. Kerner of the U.S. Marine Corps, on Oct. 15, 1985. He is the beloved husband of Jane (nee Bundy); loving father of William R. Jr. (Janet) Kerner, Thomas R. (Kathleen) Kerner and Martha J. (Mark) Kerner Saunders; dear grandfather of Lance Cpl. Rachel Kerner of the U.S. Marine Corps, Lance Cpl. Nathan Kerner of the U.S. Marine Corps, Joanna Kerner, Faith Kerner and Adam Kerner; dear son of the late William R. and Frieda (nee Gutenkunst) Kerner; and fond brother of Charles A. (Marge) Kerner and the late Ruth Kerner Cole. He is further survived by two nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science degree. He served as vice president and secretary of Milwaukee Malleable & Grey Iron Works and Milwaukee Tool & Equipment Co. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 22,1942. He graduated from Tank Destroyer Officer Candidate School and served in Italy during World War II, and was honorably discharged as 1st lieutenant on May 20, 1946. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at St. Johnユs Evangelical Lutheran Church, 410 Highway NN, Mukwonago. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee. Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral & Cremation Services in Mukwonago, 363-7126, is serving the family.
