Janet ‘Janny’ Hales

Janet "Janny" Hales, 86, of Oconomowoc and Sun City Center, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at New Perspectives of Brookfield.

Jenny was born April 21, 1917, in Milwaukee, to Harold and Claire (nee Theurman) DeHond.

On April 30, 1938, she married Burton F. Hales in Milwaukee. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Lac LaBelle Yacht Club. She was also a charter member of Club "40" in Oconomowoc. She participated in tournament bridge, bowling and dancing in Sun City Center, Fla.

Survivors include her daughters, Penny (Pete) Francisco of Oconomowoc and Leslie (Jim) Mueller of Tomahawk; her son-in-law, Nels Thommesen of Tomahawk; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burton "Tickie" Hales in November 1988; her daughter, Judith Thommesen in June 1987; and her sister, Shirley Krill.

At Jenny’s request, private family services will be held at a later date.
