Robert F. Waldman Dec. 20, 1926 - Dec. 11, 2003 Robert F. Waldman, 76, of Janesville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Janesville, the son of John H. and Ruth (Ashcraft) Waldman. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a dental technician and also served aboard the USS Wisconsin. He was called back to duty during the Korean Conflict and was attached to the Second Marine Division. On Aug. 21, 1948, he married Carol L. McDonald. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this year. Robert was employed as a truck driver working for Gateway Trucking, Liberty Trucking, Southern Wisconsin Air Freight and retired from the Teamsters Union. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 197 and Richard Ellis American Legion Post No. 205, both of Janesville. He also belonged to the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Janesville, the Mesa Buckhorn Elks Lodge No. 2656 and the USS Wisconsin Association. His wife, Carol, lovingly survives him as do his two children, Katherine L. Gasser (Jim Schnitzler) of Waukesha and Robert J. Waldman of Janesville. He will be sadly missed by his four grandchildren, Kyle Robert (Megan) Gasser of Verona, Caroline L. Gasser of Catalina Island, Calif., Joseph Robert Waldman of Oklahoma and Lindsey Waldman of Janesville; and a great-grandchild, Anthony. He is also survived by two brothers, William H. (Dolly) of Westville, Ind., and John E. (Lila) of Bloomsburg, Pa.; along with many nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville, with the Rev. Lynda Hyman of First Baptist Church officiating. Military rites will be accorded by Kienow-Hilt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1621. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in Bob’s name to Phantom Lake YMCA Camp in Mukwonago.
