Merrill
W. York WAUKESHA
- Merrill W. York of Waukesha died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at Three
Pillars Health Care Center in Dousman at age 83. Merrill
was born in rural Lake Geneva on July 27, 1919, the son of William and
Martha York. Merrill
was a World War II Army veteran. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor on Dec.
7, 1941, and experienced the attack personally. He later served in the
Phillipines and in New Guinea during World War II, where he served as
staff sergeant in a field artillery unit. Merrill
was a longtime member of Calvary Community Church in New Berlin. He was a
member of Waukesha Lodge No. 37 F.&A.M. and was a member of the
Tripoli Shrine. Merrill
owned and operated York Builders in Waukesha for 32 years. He was an avid
golfer, bowler and sheepshead player. Merrill
was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, in 1992; his brothers, Herbert,
Edward and Wayne; his sister, Lois Mitchell of Mukwonago; his nieces,
Rhonda Weinkauf of Mukwonago, Shaun (Frank) Kotlewsky of Phoenix, Donna
(Larry), Virginia York and Maryann (Rick); his nephews, LeRoy (Judy) York
and Danny (Gayle) York; his sister-in-law, Marion York of Downing; and
other relatives and friends. Funeral
services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Rudolph-Larsen
Bros. Funeral Home, 500 N. East Ave., Waukesha, under the auspices of
Waukesha Lodge No. 37 F.&A.M., followed by religious services. Burial
will take place on at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Prairie Home Cemetery.
