Elsie L. Peterson
MONTELLO - Elsie L. Peterson passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Heartland Health Care Center at age 73. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. She was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Waukesha, to the late Fred and Bessie (nee Bruhn) Griffin. Elsie married James Burg in 1948, and together they had four children. In 1966 James had a tragic accident which took his life, and Elsie was left alone with her four young children. She married William Peterson in 1969, and they lived in Waukesha for 25 years before they retired to Montello. Elsie especially enjoyed her family, playing games, bingo and watching the Green Bay Packers. She liked country western music, flowers, fishing at her lake home and crocheting. At age 70, she learned basic computer skills, which gave her hours of enjoyment. Elsie had numerous jobs, but she found child care most fulfilling. She lovingly nurtured the children, who in return adored her. Elsie is survived by her husband, William Peterson, and her four children and their spouses, Col. Jerome (Barbara) Burg of Panama City, Fla., Tom (Carol) Burg of Waukesha, Jim (Margaret) Burg of Waukesha and Jacky (Rod) Kraft of Tulsa, Okla. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michelle Burg, Tommy Burg, Brandon Burg, Kyle Kraft, Allison Kraft, Rochelle Kraft, Conrad Kraft and Trevor Burg, and one great-grandchild, Shawn Burg. Other family members grieving are her brother, Frank (Florence) Griffin, and her sister, Edna (Robert) Globe. In addition to her parents, Fred and Bessie Griffin, and her first husband, James Burg, her sisters Marion Burg and Ann Gonzales preceded Elsie in death. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha. Entombment services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at St. Mary Cemetery in Menomonee Falls, east of Highway 45 at Highway 74 (Main Street) and Highway 145. Church and Chapel Funeral Service, 549-0659, is serving the Peterson family from our newest funeral home on Bluemound Road (Highway JJ) at Highway J, four blocks south of Interstate 94.
