Helen M. Statkus

PALMYRA - Helen M. Statkus, 89, of Blue Spring Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Fort Atkinson Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 17, 1913, in Chicago, to George and Ann (nee Kaminskas) Yankauskas.

Helen had volunteered at St. Vincent-DePaul (orphanage) in Chicago. She also volunteered as a driver for Jefferson County and volunteered at St. Coletta in Jefferson. She was a member of St. Maryﾕs Catholic Church in Palmyra and the Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; they were married Nov. 4, 1933, in Cicero, Ill. She is also survived by her daughters, Georgann (Walter) Schmidt of Whitewater and Diane (James) Kobron of Melrose Park, Ill., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at St. Maryﾕs Catholic Church in Palmyra. Monsignor John H. Hebl will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass on Thursday at the church. Burial will be held at St. Maryﾕs Cemetery.

If desired, In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
