James H. Wendt

WAUKESHA - James H. Wendt was born April 16, 1933, in Waukesha, the son of Werner and Della (nee Moll) Wendt. Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, dear friend to many and special relative, completed his journey to heaven Monday morning, Dec. 9, 2002. Diabetes challenged Jim since he was 13 years old.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy (nee Eckel) of 46 years; Joan (Tom) Oberhaus, Charlie, both of Waukesha; Jean Wendt of Baraboo; Jerry (Sharon) Wendt, Jared, Bryan and Jessica, all of Stoughton; and Jane (Tim) Griswold, Kate, Sara and James. He is also survived by a sister, Judy Wendt of Waukesha.

Jim will be remembered by many as the dairy farmer at the Cozy Nook Farm, who encouraged his children to raise pumpkins and loved watching the business thrive. Besides his family, the pride and joy of his life was the farm and the people and businesses he worked with. Jim enjoyed serving on the Waukesha County Fair Board, state and local Guernsey activities, Tri-State Breeders Board, 4-H leader and FFA Alumni member, Master Farmers and church. Jim’s favorite hobbies were collecting toy tractors, playing cards and traveling with a picnic lunch at a wayside.

A special thank you to Dr. Thomas Dougherty, Dr. David Schmidt, Dr. Jane Neumann and the nursing staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital for their kind care throughout the years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Christ the Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3031 Summit Ave. The Rev. Bryan O’Connor will officiate. Visitation for Jim will be held from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, Dec. 11, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Visitation will also continue at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services Thursday. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery, Wales.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Christ the Life Lutheran Church or charity of your choice are welcomed.
