WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha resident Peter W. La Fratta, 50, died suddenly Sunday, May 27, 2001, at his home. He was born Jan. 9, 1951, the son of Peter A. and Jean V. (nee Marcini) La Fratta.

Peter was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha where he was an altar boy for many years. He graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School and Catholic Memorial High School. He attended Milwaukee Area Technical College as an auto mechanic. Peter was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany during the Vietnam War. For 16 years he worked as a fleet maintenance man for the Waukesha County Highway Department. Peter loved racing cars at the Union Grove Race Track.

Peter is survived by Joyce La Fratta Scott of Cudahy. He was the dear father of Jeffrey and Jason La Fratta, both of Waukesha. He will be missed by his parents, Peter A. and Jean V. La Fratta of Waukesha, and his dear friends, Frank and Jeanne Vincze of Waukesha. Also surviving are other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Harwell Ave., Waukesha. The Revs. Gordon Weber and Robert Enders will celebrate Mass. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. Joseph Cemetery.
