Lois Marie Weitendorf Ebert

FRANKFORT, Ill. - Lois Marie Weitendorf Ebert of Frankfort, Ill., born Feb. 1, 1922, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001.

She is survived by her daughter, Helen Ebert Simpkins of Frankfort; her son, Gary (Debra) Ebert of Waukesha; three grandchildren, Kathryn Simpkins, Jennifer Ebert, Julia Ebert and her fiancŽ, Charles Kopsea; two brothers, Fred (Naomi) Weitendorf of Frankfort and Marvin (Violet) Weitendorf of Mokena, Ill.; her brothers-in-law, Carl Ebert, Chester Ebert, Roy Ebert and Bill Smith; her sisters-in-law, Marion Sizer Ebert and Irene Ebert Smith; and 11 nieces and nine nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Simon Ebert; her brothers-in-law, Harold Ebert and Edmund Ebert; and her sisters-in-law, Velma Barton Ebert, Dorothy Hoger Ebert and Lois Lorenzen Ebert.

Lois was a longtime member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ of Frankfort, where she devoted 55 years of active service to the Sunday school program. Along with her late husband, Lewis, she spent more than five years as a junior high youth leader. She was a member of the womens’ fellowship and also participated in the deacon’s program, which offered care to shut-ins.

Lois was a member of the Farm Bureau Prime Timers, Royal Neighbors, Frankfort Parent-Teacher Association and Frankfort Home Extension. She spent 30 years as a librarian, first at Lincoln Way High School and later at Frankfort Junior High School. She loved to work with children and youth and was adored by those she touched. Her passing will leave a great void in the lives of all those who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 11100 Second St., Mokena, Ill.; the Rev. Dr. Tom Zoelzer officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Road, Mokena.
