Sigrid Abbott

WAUKESHA - Sigrid Abbott of Waukesha died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Care-Age Health Care Center in Brookfield at age 91. She was born Feb. 19, 1910, in Manitowoc, to Benjamin and Martha (nee Albrecht) Torrison. On June 26, 1935, she married Arthur Abbott.

Sigrid was the secretary at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church from 1970 until her retirement in 1981. She has been a church member since 1921, and was active in the choir, Hannah Circle and Missionary Society. She was an avid reader and will be remembered as a loving grandmother.

She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Patricia Abbott and Jennifer (Jeffrey Kingsley) Abbott, both of Milwaukee, Elizabeth (Craig) Everson of Brookfield and Jacqueline Abbott of Madison; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Samuel and Rachel Everson. Sigrid is the dear sister of Ernestine Wegner and Gladys Brisk, both of Waukesha, and brother of Benjamin (Nina) Torrison of Bradenton, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1961; her son, Richard Abbott, in 1993; and her brothers-in-law, Clyde Brisk and William O. Wegner.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., with the Rev. Rod Resheske officiating. Graveside services will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
