DELAFIELD - Chester R. Spoke of the town of Delafield died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 91. He was born in Florence on July 4, 1910, a son of Joseph and Frances Spoke. He married Johanna on May 2, 1936, in Milwaukee. Chester was a dairy farmer for many years and worked for more than 20 years at Carnation Co. in Oconomowoc. He was ordained as a deacon in 1983 and was the officiant at many funerals and baptisms. He served as a deacon at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Genesee Depot and at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hartland, where he was a member. He is lovingly survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Johanna; his children, Joseph, Stephen (Barbara), Jo Ann (Charles) Dresback, Veronica and Thomas (Sandy); his grandchildren, Tim, Jeff, T.J., Nicholas, Johanna, Courtney, Katie, Christopher and Michael Spoke; and his great-grandchildren, Maverick, Garrett and Sawyer Spoke. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and his grandson, Matthew. Funeral services for Chester will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 27, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Drive, Hartland; the Rev. Tom Demse officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service today. Burial will be held at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Hartland.
