Raymond J. Seier

WAUKESHA - Raymond J. Seier of Waukesha passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at home of pancreatic cancer at age 70. Ray was born in Fall River on July 26, 1931. He was the son of Clarence and Lucille (nee Piechekoski) Seier.

Ray and his wife owned the Blue Lantern from 1972 until 1979 and then The Wisconsin House from 1979 until 1991. Prior to that, he was a guard at Waupun, a city of Waukesha policeman, a Brinks driver and did construction work for Oliver Construction.

Ray served his country in Korea with the 543rd Ammunition Supply, 6405th Air Support Wing. He was a member of the Eagles, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Wisconsin House Outdoorsman’s Club. He loved to deer hunt and was a bowler with the 970 Classic League at Sunset Bowl. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and his grandparents.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Evelyn, whom he married Oct. 19, 1969. He is survived by his two daughters, Lynn (Charles) Jones and Peggy (Douglas) Kirkland, and Peggy’s six children, John, Alex, Kelsey, Michael, Grant and Jake, all of Arizona. He is also survived by his mother, Lucille of Columbus; his sister, Joan (Donald) Lee of Columbus; his brother, Russell (Judy) of Columbus; a niece and nephews. He is further survived by his stepchildren, Sharon Otto of New Berlin, Judie (George) Farrell of Janesville, Robert (Deborah) Kabitzke of Waukesha and Gary (Kelly) Kabitzke of Grafton; 12 stepgrandchildren and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Ray will be held at 6 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha; the Rev. James Wilch will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of the service today. Burial will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery.

Memorials in Ray’s name may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Waukesha Memorial Regional Cancer Center or Rolland Nelson Crossroads Home Hospice.
