OCONOMOWOC - Duane E. Peterson, 61, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his residence in Oconomowoc. He was born May 27, 1940, in Black River Falls, to Alvin and Elmira (nee Hanson) Peterson. On July 31, 1965, he married Bonnie Volkmann at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc.

Duane was a math teacher for 35 years, teaching at the middle school level in the Hartland Lakeside School District. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he also served on the finance committee.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Dr. Boyd (Ann) Peterson of Oconomowoc, Deanna (Tim) Peterson of Neosho, Brent Peterson of Oconomowoc, Blake Peterson of Oconomowoc and Denise Peterson of Oconomowoc; two grandchildren, Boyd II and Adler; and his uncle, Anton Hanson Jr. of Black River Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Duane will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church; the Rev. Kent Schroeder will officiate. Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomwoc. A second visitation will be held Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service. Entombment will be held at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
