WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha resident Roy H. "Whitey" Dowling died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was born in Waukesha on Dec. 23, 1917, the son of Paul and Augusta (nee Yopps) Dowling. Roy was a lifelong member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha. He worked at Quality Aluminum Casting Co. for over 25 years and also worked for the Labor Temple for over 10 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a swimmer and baseball player. He is the dear father of Patricia Miller of San Antonio, Texas, and Thomas Roy (Doris) Dowling of Waukesha. He is the brother of Frederick (Pat) Dowling, Elinore Marose and Betty Goderski, all of Waukesha. He is the dear grandfather of Lynn (Paul) Alvarado, Eugene (Jodi) Miller, Thomas (Bonnie) Dowling, Chad Dowling and Kimberly Dowling. He is the great-grandfather of Katie Scarlett Alvarado. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dowling, in 1999. Funeral services for Roy will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha; the Rev. Dan Schowalter will officiate. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials to the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ or the Virginia Health Care Center are appreciated. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of both Virginia Health Care Center and Waukesha Memorial Hospital for their wonderful, loving care.
