OCONOMOWOC - Sarah Anne Friend, formerly of Pine Lake, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. She was 72.

Sarah, or Sally as she was affectionately called, grew up on Pine Lake, the beloved daughter of the late Robert Elias and Neita Oviatt Friend. She was the beloved mother of Christine Costigan Schutt of New York City and Kelly Costigan Smith of Rowayton, Conn.; the beloved grandmother of four grandchildren, Nicholas and Will Schutt and Jamie and Abigail Smith. She was also the beloved sister of Carl O. Friend of Milwaukee, the late John M. Friend, Edward S. Friend of Hubertus and Roberta Friend Downey of San Rafael, Calif. She is further survived and much loved by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

A memorial service and interment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember her in your prayers and that contributions be made to The American Cytation Society or The Sierra Club.
