WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha County resident Mary Ellen Cassidy, 82, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 1, 2000. She was born in the town of Genesee on July 29, 1918, to Joseph and Mathilda (nee Grush) Cassidy. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ms. Cassidy was a longtime county employee, spending most of her working career at Waukesha County Extension. She was a member of the Waukesha Rose Society and the Business Professional Women’s Club of Waukesha.

She will be sadly missed by her sister, Catherine Strand of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and her sister-in-law, Dolores Cassidy of Genesee. She is further survived by 11 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Cassidy Sr., in 1996.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Visitation continues on Friday, Dec. 8, with prayers at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m., and then to St. Joseph Catholic Church for the funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Genesee Depot.
