Kritz, 69 S.Sgt. Leonard K. Kritz, 69, died at Franklin, Mass. on Monday, Dec. 13, 1999. He was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Oshkosh, to the late Louis M. Kritz and Jeannette (Baier) Kritz Kurriger. He lived in Barton from 1940-48, when he joined the U.S. Marines and served 20 years, five months and 22 days. He fought in the Korean Conflict on two tours, and was wounded and cited for bravery beyond the call of duty. He also served in Vietnam on three tours, during which he lost a leg. He was highly decorated, which includes five Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star. He was also a drill instructor while stationed at Paris Island, S.C. during his career in the Marines. Upon retiring and residing in Bellingham, Mass., he served as a scout leader for 12 years, earning the Silver Beaver Award and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Leonard was a member of the VFW and was grand marshall in the 1989 Memorial Day Parade in Bellingham, Mass. Fishing and hunting were more than a hobby to him. Preceding him in death were his father in 1948, his mother in 1997, his son, Leonard Kenneth II in August, 1998, his wife, Roberta (Franklin) in May 1999, two brothers, Eugene who was fatally wounded in Vietnam in 1967 and Martin, of West Bend who died in January, 1999. Survivors include a loving daughter-in-law, Laurie (nee Lloyd) Kritz of Franklin, Mass; two grandchildren Dakota 5, and Cheyenne 2; a brother, Louis (Dorene) of Mukwonago; two sisters, Vivian (Isaac) Cain of Salton City, Calif. and Mary (James) McKee of Kewaskum; many nieces, nephews, relatives and many, many friends. The OTeri Funeral Home of Franklin Mass assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials to the VFW, cancer hospices or the charity of the donors choice are appreciated. |
