J. Bauer, 77 Clement J. Bauer of West Bend, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, at the age of 77. He was born May 5, 1922, in the town of Leroy, to the late Alois and Ottillia (nee Feucht) Bauer. During World War II, he served with the medical services of the United States Army in the European, Pacific and Asian theaters. After his marriage to Rita L. Weyer on Sept. 6, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira, the couple settled in West Bend where he was employed for the city of West Bend for 38 years, retiring in December, 1984. For 22 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the West Bend Fire Department. Clement was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish. Survivors include his wife; three children, Margaret (Robert) Trester of Slinger, Thomas (Pamela) of Kewaskum and Donald (Lynda) of West Bend; three grandchildren, Catherine and Robert Trester, both of Slinger and Matthew Bauer of Kewaskum; a step-granddaughter, Barbara (Thomas) Cook of Oconto Falls; two step-great-grandchildren, Thomas and James Cook, both of Oconto Falls; his stepmother, Ida Reiser of Juneau; two brothers, Jerome (Elizabeth) of Mayville and Kenneth (Alice) of Lomira; two sisters, Annela (Eugene) Wagner of West Bend and Sylvia (Franklin) Gremminger of Mayville; a brother-in-law, John (Carolyn) Weyer of Brownsville; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were a son, Joseph in 1947; his parents-in-law, Andrew and Rose Weyer; a brother-in-law, Roland Weyer; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Weyer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church. Fr. Jeff Haines will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday after 4 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m., and also Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Masses or memorials may be given to St. Frances Cabrini Church or to the school. |
