| Cynthia Ann Martin,
53 On Dec. 3, 19999, after battling valiantly against terminal cancer, Cynthia Ann Martin (Cindy) died at Door County Memorial Hospital in Sturgeon Bay. During her 53 years of life, Cindy was actively involved in the Wisconsin Antique Dealers Association for more than 18 years and acted as president for a number of years. Cindy also taught catechism class for five years, sang in the church choir and lecterned for more than seven years, and was a long-time Girl Scout leader and den mother. She was one of the first women in Wisconsin to participate and earn her Wood Badge in the Scouting program and she spent much of her adult learning and refining her culinary skills and sharing her passion for food with others. She could also be found enjoying plays and productions at the Peninsula Players and American Folklore Theater or exploring one of the many lighthouses in Door County. Because of her avid love and knowledge of lighthouses, Cindy also became a member of the National Lighthouse Society. Out of her many activities and occupations, Cindy most enjoyed working at Scandia Village as a cook. For more than five years she was able to interact with the residents she loved and provide them with creative and delicious meals. She always felt appreciated and needed in this position and it and the many residents brought her great joy and a sense of community to the very end. Cindy will be remembered by her family and friends for her honest, forthright and caring nature, independent, generous and beautiful spirit, dry sense of humor, vast intelligence and talents in cooking, singing and gardening and her love for and pride in her family and close friends. Cindy loved Door County and its ever-changing seasons and supportive small-town community. She will be greatly missed but remembered forever in our hearts and souls. Left behind and grieving the loss of their wife and mother are Cindys husband of 32 years, Joseph B. Martin Jr. and her four children and their families, daughter Jennifer Martin and son-in-law John Kohnert, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Kristen Martin, daughter Jessica LaCrosse, grandson Dalton LaCrosse and granddaughter Miranda LaCrosse and son Patrick Martin.
