Genevieve "Gen" M. May (nee Schroeder) of Waupaca died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 at Crystal River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waupaca at 83.

She was born Oct. 3, 1916 in the town of Barton to the late George and Theckla (nee Reuter) Schroeder.

After her marriage to Arthur P. May on Nov. 21, 1934 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in the former village of Barton, they settled there and in 1943 came to West Bend.

Gen was employed at Wesbar Corp. and also at Barton Screw Machine Company for many years.

In 1981, the couple moved to Red Granite and since 1993 has lived in Waupaca. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1998.

Survivors include three children, Patricia (Francis "Jr.") Schodron of Arbor Vitae, Jean May of West Bend and Richard (Jacqueline) of Waupaca; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert F. Schroeder of West Bend; one brother-in-law, Vincent Averill of the town of Ashford; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Church, West Bend, with Father Jerry Repenshek as the presider. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation at the church only will be from 4:30 p.m. Friday until the time of services.
