A funeral service was held Monday at First Immanuel Lutheran Church for Geriena Ann Nierode, 89, who died on Nov. 24, 1999. Rev. Randolph Raasch officiated at the ceremony, with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg. Burial was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Mrs. Nierode was born May 18, 1910 in Grafton, daughter of Nicholas and Rosa (nee Dickmann) Schreiner. She married George Nierode on June 24, 1933 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. She and her husband owned and operated the A & P store and the first Red Owl store in Cedarburg. Mrs. Nierode was a long time active member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: daughter Margaret (Gerald) Radke of Cedarburg; brothers Bernarr Schreiner of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren Laura (Patrick) Frank of Lake Geneva, Dale (fiancee Cheryl) Radke of Cedarburg and Glenn (Karen) Radke of Eagle; great-grandchildren Adam and Margaret Frank of Lake Geneva, Emily and Alexis Radke of Eagle, and Robin Schmidt of Eagle.

Further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and great-grandchild Nicholas Schmidt.
