Michael J. "Mickey" Geraghty Michael J. "Mickey" Geraghty of Hartford, won his battle with cancer Monday, May 30, 2005 at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was 59 years old. He was born April 27, 1946 in Monona, Iowa to Robert and Rosemary (nee Whittle) Geraghty. Mickey enlisted in the Navy, leaving July 7, 1964. He retired from the U.S. Navy on Nov. 20, 1986 as a senior chief fire controlman. He is survived by three children, Kelly Hein of Hartford, Catherine (David) Boyd of Hartford, and Michelle Geraghty of West Virginia; four granddaughters, Danielle, Raquel, Kourtney and Gabrielle Hein; grandson, David Boyd; mother, Rosemary (Glenn) Binns of Monona, Iowa; sister, Kathleen (Danny) Pixler of Monona; mother of his two oldest daughters, Karen Geraghty of Hartford. Mickey is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; uncle, Bernard Whittle; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Odelia Whittle; son-in-law, Andy Hein; father-in-law, John Barger. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St. Hartford with Pastor Ben Stratton officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford. A time of fellowship to follow at the funeral home.
