William E. Steinbrenner

William E. Steinbrenner, 90, of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Cedar Community.

He was born on May 9, 1914 in Milwaukee to the late Ernst and Marie (Rexeller) Steinbrenner, and raised in the Gleason and Merrill areas.

On Aug. 12, 1939 he married Vera M. Krueger in Marion.

He moved to Milwaukee in his early 20s where the couple raised their family after marriage.

He was the owner and operator of Steinbrenner True Value Hardware Store in Milwaukee and Pewaukee.

William enjoyed playing the organ, photography and painting pictures.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Bend.

His wife passed away in July of 1997.

Survivors include two children, William E. (Judy) Steinbrenner Jr. of Fond du Lac and Ellen (William) Hansen of Sussex; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Plahmer of Milwaukee; a brother, Robert (Jillie) Steinbrenner of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25 at noon at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend.

Rev. John H. Paustian will officiate, and entombment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.

Visitation at the church only will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
