Jerome K. "Jerry" Pfister
Jerome K. "Jerry" Pfister, SFC., retired, 72, of Kempner, Texas, died on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004 in a Temple hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Kempner Cemetery with Father Charlie Van Winkle officiating. Burial will follow in the Kempner Cemetery with military honors. Visitation at the Sheppard Funeral Home, Copperas Cove, Texas, will be Monday (tonight) from 6 to 8 p.m. Jerry was born on Dec. 18, 1932 to the late Carl and Phyllis (Brainerd) Pfister in Milwaukee, and married Iris Markle on Aug. 1, 1960 in Hebron, Ohio. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea, Vietnam and retired in 1979. His military awards included the National Defense Service Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Presidential Unit Citation 2nd Award; Meritorious Unit Citation; Good Conduct Medal Clasp with two loops, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Expert Rifle, VCM w/dvc 60. He worked for the Texas Department of Corrections and retired in 1993 as a correctional officer. Jerry attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove, and was a member of VFW Post 8577 and American Legion Post 582. Survivors include his loving wife, Iris; a sister, Janet Wagner of West Bend, and two brothers, James Pfister of West Bend and John Pfister of St. Germain.
