Roland "Rollie" Gohl was born in Milwaukee on June 26, 1939 to the late Ben Gohl and the late Ann (nee Jozwiak) Gohl. In his early youth, the family moved to upper Michigan and operated a family farm. After the loss of his mother, Rollie and his father moved back to Milwaukee. Rollie spent his early adult life working for the state of Wisconsin, and worked his way up to a supervisory position on highway construction that was taking place in the metro Milwaukee area. He spoke many times of his experiences in working with the steel and concrete crews as they built the Hone Bridge. In the mid-1970s, Rollie wanted a different career. He started working as a carpenter and over the years, became a master carpenter. From those days to the day he passed away, he performed skilled work including carpentry and cabinet making for customers that ranged from apartment building owners to office building owners. He also worked with retired homeowners, doctors, lawyers, corporate executives and most importantly, friends and family. Many of his customers trusted him to the point of giving him a key to their homes while he worked on the residence.

Rosa and Rollie met during these early years. When Rosa, a widow living with the youngest of her five children, met Rollie, it was a perfect match. They both needed a caring companion which led to 25 wonderful years of love and affection. Rollie was a great husband and caregiver. His longtime passion for farming led him and Rosa to maintain an extensive garden. They had several cows, always some chickens, and he collected many tractors to keep the homestead in great shape. His family and hundreds of very satisfied customers will forever miss him.

Rollie is survived his wife, Rosa Foeger Gohl; stepchildren, Anna Niemann, Helen Brumm, Ericka (Dan) Dickmann, Karl (Jill) Foeger and Rosemary (John) Graham.

He is further survived by 15 stepgrandchildren, many great-stepgrandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Memorials of your choice appreciated.
