Helen E. Olszak

Helen E. Olszak (nee Schaefer) of Hartford passed away on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 87 years old.

She was born on Aug. 8, 1917 in Neilsville to Jacob and Mathilda (nee Jacobi) Schaefer. She married Arnold Strupp. He preceded her in death in 1949. She married George Olszak. He preceded her in death in 1987. Helen retired from Briggs & Stratton after 20 years of service. She will always be remembered for her humor, her thoughtfulness, and her loving and outgoing ways. May a wonderful lady rest in God’s loving care. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church since 1935.

Helen is survived by daughter, Elizabeth (Jerry) Weiss of Horicon; three stepsons, George "Butch" of Seattle, Wash., Donald (Sandra) of Jefferson, and David (Karen) Olszak of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Bonnie (Bob) Schindel of Horicon, Barbara (Jay) Rosenthal of Fond du Lac, and Richard (Sandra) Eckes of Beaver Dam; four stepgrandchildren, Jennifer, Crystal, Aaron and Andy; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Cecelia Ogelsby of Hobart; and dear friends, Debbie Regan of Hartford, Emma Vollmer of Las Vegas, Loretta Koehler of Slinger, and Ron Eberhardt of Hubertus. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Strupp; second husband, George Olszak; a grandson, Jack Scott Rose; her parents; brother, Arthur Schaefer; and sister, Frances Heckendorf

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 at noon at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4886 Hwy 175, St. Lawrence, with Fr. Joseph Dominic officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the church.
