Edwin Bigelow

A funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 5 at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton for Edwin Bigelow, who died on Dec. 1, 2004 at the age of 68. Interment was at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg. Online condolences may be sent from www.muellerfuneralhome.com

Mr. Bigelow was born March 18, 1936 to Edwin B. and Mildred (nee Koldan) Bigelow Sr. in Milwaukee. He had one brother, Robert.

His family moved to Grafton, where his father built their home. He played six-man football in high school; was involved in forensics, discussion club, dramatic club, chorus and letterman club. He gave the salutatory address at his high school graduation, June 10, 1954. His father illustrated the cover of his senior yearbook. After graduation, he started working for Freeman Chemical in Port Washington. The company is now Cook Composites and Polymers located in Kansas City. He held many positions, starting out working on the bench and rising to national sales manager. He was semi-retired working as a consultant for CCP.

This past September, Edwin helped with the 50th reunion of the Grafton class of ‘54. They had a total of 18 classmates - most of whom attended the celebration.

Mr. Bigelow did a lot of traveling - Nassau, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, Canada, England, Wales, Scotland and the Caribbean - both for work and with his family.

He was married Sept. 12, 1959 to Carlotte Sutton in Milwaukee. They lived in Milwaukee, on Big Cedar Lake in Slinger, in Grafton, Geneseo, Ill., and Cedarburg (since 1977). They have two children, Jason and Jessica.

He was a member of the Ozaukee County Historical Society, Milwaukee Road Historical Association, National Railroad Museum and Milwaukee Electric Railway and Transit Historical Society.
