Olive L. Crooker Olive L. Crooker, nee LaValley, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004. Olive was born on June 11, 1927 in White Bear Lake, Minn. to the late Emily and Eli LaValley. She married her Waukesha High School sweetheart, William Crooker, on Dec. 27, 1947 and they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage together. They married after two years of study at the Chicago Art Institute, and while William attended school at Iowa State University. After a 1949 graduation, they moved to Chicago, but moved back to Waukesha in 1950, where they raised their three children. In 1972, the couple moved to West Bend where Olive was very active in social affairs, and was an avid golfer at the West Bend Country Club. Other passions of Olive’s in-cluded playing bridge and traveling throughout Europe and South America. Her love for the outdoors was highlighted four years ago with a two-day hike, with her husband, down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and out the next day. Olive lived her life devoted to her family. She was the beloved wife of William, and dear mother of Susan (David) Alger, David (Debra) Crooker, and Kenneth (Jasmine) Crooker. She was the loving grandmother of Sarah Alger, Joseph Alger, Kathryn Alger, William Crooker, Melissa Crooker, and Elizabeth Crooker. Olive was preceded in death by her brother, Eli LaValley, and kept in close contact with her sister-in-law, Elaine LaValley, her nephew, John LaValley, and her niece, Patricia Voelker. Olive was loved by all who met her, and was adored by her family. She will be sorely missed, but remain in our hearts forever. A memorial service in honor of Olive will be held at a later date. The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.
