John P. Kelroy

John P. Kelroy, 68, of Allenton, died on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at Cedar Community.

He was born on Oct. 12, 1935 in the town of Byron to the late Edward and Ethel (nee Kelley) Kelroy and married Darlene H. Kohlmann on May 6, 1961 at St. Michael’s Church in Dotyville.

John was raised in the town of Byron before his family moved to Fond du Lac when he was 13. He graduated from St. Mary’s Springs High School.

He was the superintendent of sewage and treatment for Mayville for 12 years, and then worked at Purity Cheese until the plant closed. He then worked in the maintenance department for Dodge County until retiring in December, 2001.

In his retirement John worked part time for the town of Addison, and enjoyed helping on his daughter and son-in-law’s family farm.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Darlene; a daughter, Annette (Roger) Gundrum of Allenton; two grandchildren, Krista and Sarah; his siblings, Margaret Schmitz, Robert Kelroy, Edward (Shirley) Kelroy and Rosemary (Donald) Schmitz, all of Fond du Lac; a sister-in-law, Elaine (Alfred) Keller of St. Cloud; a brother-in-law, Harold (Yvonne) Kohlmann of Fond du Lac; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 1:30 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton.

Rev. Richard Breitbach will be the presider and burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Resurrection Catholic Church.
