Gladys S. Matti Gladys S. Matti (nee Werner), 78, of Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 at Autumn Oaks Assisted Living of Slinger. She was previously a resident of Wellington Place for nearly a year. She was born on June 18, 1925 in Hartford to the late Roy and Mary (nee Marsh) Werner. In May of 1949, Gladys married Elmer Matti in Hartford. He passed away in 1985. Gladys was employed at the shoe factory, the Libby Canning Co., West Bend Aluminum for 15 years, and delivered the Post. She was a member of the Hartford Senior Friends and the Hartford Evening Garden Club. Gladys was a long-time member of St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church of Rubicon. She also attended St. John's Church, Hartford. Gladys was an avid gardener and loved to spend her days outdoors. She was the beloved mother of Elroy (Tammie) of Waterford, Fred (Donna) of Cudahy, Mary Jean Matti of Hartford, and John (Mary) of Hartford; cherished grandmother of Damon (Gloria) Matti, Andrea Matti, LeeAnna Matti, Nikki Menheer, JoAnn (Shawn) Grams, Lisa (Jon) Bell, Joshua (Charlotte) Matti, Shannon Matti, and John Matti Jr.; and great-grandmother of Destinee and Brianna Matti, Breanna Adams, Desiree Matti, Rhea and Gavin Matti, Abbey and Jon Bell Jr. and Tim Gahlman. Further survived by other relatives, and friends. Her positive attitude and good spirits, along with her cheerful wit, helped her through these last two years of illness. Her smile will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford, was on Saturday, Dec. 27 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral Services followed at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Hartford.
