Elizabeth "Betty" Nicolaus

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jackson for Elizabeth "Betty" Nicolaus, 90, of Cedarburg. The Rev. Paul Mittermaier officiated at the ceremony. Interment took place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Jackson. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Nicolaus was born Oct. 25, 1913 in Jackson to the late Peter Amacher and the late Emma Schramm. She later married the late Arnold Nicolaus on Sept. 16, 1933 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jackson. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters. Mrs. Nicolaus was a longtime active member at St. John’s and she loved quilting, playing sheepshead and eating at Jimmy’s Restaurant in Jackson. She worked for Sprague Electric for over 25 years as well as working on the farm for many years.

Survivors include: daughters Darlene (Arnold "Huns") Kaul of Grafton, Carla (James) Volz of Cedarburg; sister Dorothy (Seth) Liebenstein of Grafton; half-brother Leonard (Ramona) Bierlein of the state of Oregon; sister-in-law Maxine Amacher.

She is further survived by six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Nicolaus, two brothers and one sister.
