Carl F. Wegner
Carl F. Wegner, 90, of Van Dyne, died on Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2003 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du lac. He was born on July 7, 1913 to the late Fred and Lydia (Hencke) Wegner on the family homestead in the town of Fond du Lac. Carl worked his dairy and crop farm and ran a small trucking operating until 1960. He subsequently retired from Oshkosh Corrugated Box in 1978 where he had worked as a machine operator for more than 20 years. Carl was a very kind and caring man who enjoyed his children, his grandchildren, his many nieces and nephews and their families, and his very extended family of friends. He loved, touched and helped many people throughout his entire life. Carl was always there for whomover needed him. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Eldorado. Survivors include his wife, Betty; three children who he loved more than life itself, Carl (Marlene) Wegner Jr. of West Bend, Donna (Dennis) Jungwirth of Oshkosh and John (Susie) Wegner of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Sean James Wegner and Cassie Stadler, both of Oshkosh, and Cory (Jessica) Wegner of Wautoma; two great-grandchildren, Emily Stadler and Matthew Haberkorn; five step-grandchildren, Dawn (Brian) Cashore of Evansville, Renee (Kerry) Lapp of Muskego, Greg (Heidi) Lechner of Voorhees, N.J., Denny (Lori) Jungwirth of Alexandria, Va., and Wendy (Matt) Tews, of Baltimore; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were four sisters, Margaret (Harold) Dallman, Flora (Oscar) Schultz, Ruth (Orlin) Henning and Clara (Robert) Schwertfeger. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Annex, N7987 Town Hall Road, Eldorado, with Rev. Marvin A. Putz officiating. Visitation at the Mach Funeral Chapel, 31 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, will be on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Sunday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Annex from 11 a.m until the time of services.
