Amelda Remmel Becker

Amelda Remmel Becker of Mayville, formerly of Woodland, passed away on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 98 years old.

She was born on April 11, 1905 in the town of Theresa to William and Katherine (nee Kohl) Remmel. She was a graduate of St. Theresa Catholic School in Theresa, Mayville High School and Marian College in Fond du Lac. On Oct. 1, 1930, she married Frank F. Becker at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Amelda was an elementary school teacher, an office worker and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Woodland, and from 1930 to 1980 she was their organist and choir director. She was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella and was a member of St. Mary's Christian Women and the Third Order of St. Francis. Amelda was a member of the Dodge County Retired Educators Association.

She is survived by her children, Rev. Fr. Franklyn William Becker of Mayville and Lew Frederick (Barbara) Becker of Muncie, Ind.; grandchildren Michelle Becker Eichler, Kimberly Becker Klapp and Kelly Kay Becker; and four great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Amelda was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Frank, in 1942.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Woodland. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Woodland.
