Leoneze K. Rheingans

Leoneze K. Rheingans, nee Tesch, 89, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at St. Luke’s Medical Center of Milwaukee.

She was born on April 18, 1914 on the family’s Jackson homestead to the late Erich and Caroline A. (Dotter) Tesch, and attended Elmwood School.

After her marriage to Chester M. Rheingans on June 8, 1935 at St. Peter’s UCC in Jackson, the couple co-owned Rheingans Hardware and continued to raise their family in Jackson.

Leoneze was a devoted member of St. Peter’s UCC, participating in the Guild, choir and teaching Sunday school.

She was also an active volunteer at Cedar Ridge and Cedar Lake Health Care Center of West Bend.

Leoneze loved gardening, playing cards, sharing her cooking expertise and spending quality time at the couple’s cottage on Chute Pond in Oconto County.

Survivors include a sister, Viola Troeller of Hartford; a son-in-law, Eugene Conger of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Scott (Melissa) Conger of Wauwatosa, Carra-Lyn (Eric) Edson of Sheboygan and Gregory Conger of Oshkosh; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Emily and Thomas Edson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband in June of 1997; two children, Janice Conger and Dennis Rheingans; two sisters, Gladys Arnold and Verdie Lenz; and a brother, Ardell Tesch.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20 at noon at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Rev. H. David Flegel will officiate, and interment will be in St. Peter’s UCC Cemetery, Jackson.

Visitation at the funeral home will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
