Agnes M. Kratz Agnes M. Kratz, nee Gutschenritter, 101 of Slinger, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend. She was born on Sept. 14, 1902 in Hartford to the late George and Anna (nee Hanz) Gutschenritter, and married Edwin H. Kratz on Oct. 22, 1921 in St. Kilian’s Catholic Church, Hartford. He passed away in 1969. Agnes was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger for 82 years, and its Christian Mothers and choir. She was also the recorder for the Royal Neighbors of America (RNA) for many years and a member of the Hartford Senior Friends. Agnes crocheted many afghans over the years, enjoyed putting crossword puzzles together and was a card club member who especially enjoyed sheepshead. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley (Jack) Putman of Fond du Lac, Agnes Doubleday of Hartford and Mary (Clarence) Klink of Rubicon; two daughters-in-law, Patricia Kratz of Las Cruces, N.M. and Jean Kratz of Coralville, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were two sons, Orville in 1980 and Leo in 2001; a son-in-law, Roger Doubleday; five brothers, Tony, Art, Ed, George and Leo Gutschenritter; and two sisters, Mary and Irene. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Slinger. Father Rick Stoffel will officiate, and interment will be in old St. Peter’s Cemetery, Slinger. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church only on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Peter’s Building Fund or the Samaritan Health Center are appreciated. The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.
