John J. Propson

John J. Propson, 86, formerly of West Bend, died on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira.

He was born on April 21, 1917 in the town of Stockbridge in Calumet County to the late John and Rosa (nee Wettstein) Propson.

In 1942 he settled in West Bend where he became employed at Amity Leather Products as a leather cutter.

On Oct. 13, 1945 he was united in marriage to Lydia E. Wendt at Holy Angels Church in West Bend.

She passed away on Sept. 16, 2002.

Following his retirement in 1979, John operated the boat launch in Brothertown for several years, and also was an avid sheepshead player.

He was a member of the West end Lodge 1398 Loyal Order of Moose.

Survivors include four children, John G. (Dianna) of Richland, Wash., James (Bonnie) of Kohlsville, Cindy (Dave) Butzke of Campbellsport and Sandy Sue (Carl) Hartmann of Hartland; eight grandchildren, Tiffanie (Cliff) Eyre, Drew Propson, Kimberly Propson, Ben Propson, Matt Propson, Hollie Titel, Jennifer Titel and Joe Hartmann; five great-grandchildren, Tirzah, Kayden and Levi Eyre, Dillon Stoffel and Hailey Blish; three brothers, Arthur (Doris) of Chilton, Joseph (Bernice) of Kiel and Andrew (Ginny) of Chilton; four sisters, Rosemary Karis of Chilton, Delores Sell, Alice (Tony) Sabel of Kiel and Dorothy (Robert) Gerner of Oshkosh; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Propson of Chilton, Viola Propson of Stockbridge and Alma Wendt of Tigerton; a brother-in-law, Leo Miller of Chilton; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a grandson, Andrew Hartmann; a sister, Isabella Miller; and four brothers, Leander, Ted, Gregor and Irvin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West end.

Father Jeffrey Haines will be the presider, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
