Rebecca J. Houk-Krajna

Rebecca J. Houk-Krajna, nee Coons, 54, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at the Hartford Care Center after a long battle with lung cancer.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1949 in Fort Knox, Ky. to Jack J. and Phyllis L. (nee Pratt) Coons.

Becky was an army "brat" and lived in many different areas including Panama and Germany.

She came to the West Bend area in 1985 and made it her home.

Rebecca found her occupational calling nine years prior to her illness, serving people with developmental disabilities for REM Wisconsin in Washington County.

Two of the most important things in Rebecca’s life were her family and her 21 years of sobriety.

She also loved cross-stitching, music and the sound of a Harley.

Survivors include her mother, Phyllis (John) Vance of San Francisco; her three children, Donna (Diarmid) Martin-Hammer of Denver, Matthew (Stephanie) Houk of West Allis and Michelle (Nicholas) Hunt of West Bend; her five beautiful grandchildren, Ian Edgar, Jacob Tyler, Brady Hunter, Harleigh Kate and Clara Jane; her brothers, Russell (Michelle) Coons and Jimmy Vance, both of San Francisco; and many friends and relatives.

Preceding her in death were her father and her sister, Susan.

At Rebecca’s request there will be no visitation or formal services.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service of West Bend is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of Hartford Care Center and Heartland Hospice for their incredible services and support.
