Jay Raymond Dusenbery Jay Raymond Dusenbery, 84, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at Cedar Community. He was born on April 17, 1919 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Raymond and Ula (Overton) Dusenbery, and married Ellen Lorraine Halverson on Oct. 7, 1942 in San Francisco. Jay served four and a half years in the U.S. Navy as a gunner’s mate 1st Class during World War II. He was a devoted volunteer in Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ozaukee County, was a dedicated leader actively involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, and was the owner/operator of Ozaukee Heating Co. Jay was a resident of Ozaukee County until moving to the West Bend area in 1992. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, West Bend, and the Varsity Club. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ellen; three children, Dennis Dusenbery of Albuquerque, N.M., Richard "Rick" Dusenbery of West Bend and Jean (Stephen) Williams of Grand Marais, Minn.; six grandchildren, Geoff, Jill and Tim Dusenbery, and Sarah, Erin and Kimberly Williams; a daughter-in-law, Becky Dusenbery of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Larry (Kay) Dusenbery of Websters Grove, Mo.; a sister, Cherry (Henry) Orth of Arizona; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were two brothers. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Oscar Kraft will officiate, and entombment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Memorials are appreciated to Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Research or the Cedar Lake Health Care Center. The Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, is assisting the family.
