Esther B. Gutermann A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsville for Esther B. Gutermann, who died on Nov. 29, 2003, at the age of 94. The Rev. William Carter officiated at the ceremony. Burial was Dec. 3 in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Jackson. Schmidt Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. Mrs. Gutermann was born Sept. 4, 1909, daughter of the late Albert and Bertha Kowalske. She was baptized on Sept. 19, 1909 at David’s Star Evangelical Lutheran Church in the town of Jackson, she was confirmed at the church on March 25, 1923. She married Joseph Gutermann on Nov. 4, 1933 at David’s Star Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and also worked for many years at the former Kiekhafer Corporation, now Mercury Marine, in Cedarburg. Survivors include: children Walter (Donna) Gutermann of Jackson, Edwin (Stefanie) Gutermann of Brownsville, George (Yvonne) Gutermann of West Bend, Mildred (Allen) Zarling of West Bend; grandchildren Renee Schwefel (special friend Ivan Thompson), Lyle (Ruth) Gutermann, Neal (Holly) Gutermann, Christ (Therese) Gutermann, Beth (Don) LaFreniere, Cindy (Jim) Koffman, Linda Knebel, Ricki (Lori) Gutermann, Lori (John) Knapp, Mark Gutermann, Ronda (Bruce) Koenig, Wayne Zarling (special friend Kat Jaeger), Cheryl (Randy) Hofmaier; 23 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph, two brothers and sisters-in-law. The family has requested that memorials be given to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsville, Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac or Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in the town of Jackson.
